The name of the world's largest seal is SOUTHERN ELEPHANT SEAL This seal is also called BEACH BULLDOZER.
The largest carnivore that breeds on land is ten times heavier than the male southern elephant seal polar bear. Males also weigh five times more than females. Elephants spend up to eight months in the open sea, traveling large distances in search of food. During a fishing dive, they can hold their breath for up to two hours - the longest for any marine mammal.
- SIZE:- 6½–20 ft (2–6 m) long; 790–11,025 lb (360–5,000 kg) in weight (males much longer and heavier than females)
- HABITAT:-Stony beaches and adjoining seas.
- LOCATION:- Islands around the Antarctic and southern tip of South America.
- DIET :- Fishes and squid.
When the elephant seal dips in cold water, their heart rate decreases to circulate blood around vital organs. This dive reflex also occurs in humans, but is less effective.“At sea, elephant seals spend 90% of their time underwater”

In September, Southern Elephant seals turn to ashes to breed. Males fight for female groups, roaring and puffing at each other with their canine teeth. The long nose of the male helps to echo their follicles and makes them even faster. Puppies may collapse in conflict.
